Plans for the Garden?

I saw Alice last week at card club.  She asked a question that stopped me in my tracks, for a moment.

“Do you have any plans for the garden this summer?”

It has been so cold and my thoughts have been so distant from my own garden.  Lots of blog-hopping, enjoying other gardens, but not really thinking about my own yet.

She shook the icicles out of my brain – plans?  Why, come to think of it, yes, I believe I do.

I have been wanting to do a little landscaping on the shady side of the house for some time.  I’ve been thinking, and thinking, and thinking.  It’s time for some doing!

Yes, I’d like to create a path that leads from the front corner of the yard, down the shady side of the property, to the picket fence that welcomes visitors to the rear yard.  I envision an arbor there.

I’m thinking the path needs to be steps, because the sloping down to the fence is rather steep.  I’d also like to incorporate a couple of walls, to keep the front yard in the front, and the side yard on the side!

Alice did recommend starting with the steps.  Gonna be a lot of work, but get the steps in first and decorate from there.

So now I’m on a mission, have some vision as to what comes first, and on to thinking and planning for Spring.

What are you planning for your garden?

  1. How great to have a plan! I tend to have a few plans floating around in my head, while I try to keep a few going on in the garden, too! Good luck with those steps, I hope it isn’t too much work 🙂
