Knockout roses. I have always wondered what that meant. I don’t have any roses in my garden, even though I have tried.
For some reason, I always thought that Knockout Roses were really knock-off roses.
Knockout Roses were introduced in 2000. Many people assume that Knockout Roses need absolutely no care at all – no water, no fertilizer, no pruning. That’s really not true.
They do require water and always benefit from from occasional fertilizer. And like any other plant, an occasional manicure keeps the shrub in shape.
Perhaps not a rose for cutting, these roses look spectacular in containers and in borders. Definitely going to add some color, by way of the Knockout, to my garden this year!
Moving right through this alphabet challenge!
It’s strange, but I’m not a rose fan! I take care of the old lilac one that was here when I moved in, and I planted three climbers to cover a trellis/arbor sort of thing, but they just don’t do anything for me as far as garden plants. I grew up with them, my mother had a “rose garden” area called the “sun trap,” and they smelled so nice. Many of the newer ones have no aroma.

I don’t have any roses at the moment, but that photo of the rose border on the fence has inspired me! Planning to add a few to mine.

I’ve been growing them for over 10 years and have been very pleased with them. Would still like to see them develop a truly great yellow one.

It does look like there are many pinks and reds. That coral is lovely, and I will be on the lookout for yellow! Do you use them in your arrangements? It looks like they don’t have much of a stem, but are lovely on the vine!

Hmmm, seeing these make me think the multiple rose bushes in our yard at our new house are this kind!
